When my partner and I moved from the UK to Sweden, we seized an opportunity to make our first cross-continent rail journey together — from Surrey in the UK through Belgium, northwestern Germany, Denmark and the southern parts of Sweden. We took 10 trains in 3 days, with a day’s stopover in Hamburg and a total travel time of 25 hours.
